  1. Lights sometimes shows particles properties and sometimes wave properties. The first experiment about the properties of light was done by Pierre Gassendi in 1660s, and the concept for wave properties was firstly proposed by Robert Hooke in 1665s by pulse theory and later on 1690s Christiaan Huygen gave a mathematical wave theory by Treatise on Light. So at the present time we can define light as particle as well as wave, which on detail can be studied on quantum mechanics.

  2. If we become able to travel at the speed of light, we can go to our future. The first ever concept for time travel had given by H.G. Wells by his novel ‘The Time Machine’ in 1895s. In twenty century Albert Einstein proposed a book naming ‘Special Relativity’ in which, he gave the theoretical explanation about the time travel.

  3. Visible lights waves are the only electromagnetic waves that we can see by our naked eyes. Every lights have different wavelength, so the different colors. Our eye can detect the light having wavelength between 380 to 700 nanometer. All the other light having greater or smaller wavelength cannot be detected by normal human eyes.

If the sun disappeared one day, we would notice it after eight minute and twenty seconds. As the sun disappear, the sun starts travelling at the speed of eighteen miles per second.   7. A photon may live for at least one quintillion (one billion multiplied by one billion) years. If we become able to decay the photon, it gives the particle lighter than the light, which could travel faster than light.

After two years the same group become able to completely stop the light but for few fraction of second. Then the Georgia institute of technology stops the light for sixteen second. Few years back, scientists from the university of Darmstadt in Germany successfully stopped the lights for one minute using the technique called EIT (electromagnetically induced transparency).

  10. When light passes through a prism, its component color will be separated into red, orange, green, yellow, blue, indigo, violet. This is the reason why we see rainbow on the sky. When light passes through water droplet, it separates the color of light forming rainbow. When these separated color shine from second prism it brought back to a single light.

  11. The color of the light depends upon the energy being produced from the source. Hotter the source is more energy will be radiated resulting the light with shorter wavelength and vice-versa. So all the stars of the universe produce different color light. As the temperature of the sun is approximately 5,500 degrees Celsius, it produces yellowish light and so other star.
